Japanese Simmered Pork Roast recipe

Ingredients:
3 lb pork shoulder roast.
Cooked rice, hot.
6 green onions, cut into one-inch pieces.
2 cups of water.
¾ cup of dry white wine.
½ cup of soy sauce.
3 tablespoons of grated gingerroot.
1 tablespoon of cooking oil.

Procedures:
Trim any excess fat from the pork.

Heat the cooking oil in a wok or large skillet on a medium-high setting.

Brown the pork on all sides in the hot oil.

Add the onions, water, wine, soy sauce and ginger.

Bring to the boil.

Reduce heat.

Simmer, covered until the meat is tender (takes about 2 hours).

Strain the juices and skim off fat.

Serve juices with sliced meat over hot cooked rice.
